Xin Lian was born in Xian, Shanxi province, China. With a passion for chemistry, his research interest focuses on design and construction of new metal-organic frameworks (MOF), theoretical calculations for investigating the mechanisms of gas separation and photocatalysis and electrocatalysis and exploration of structure-performance relationship. His Ph.D. in Materials Physics and Chemistry at material science and engineering college of Nankai university (NKU) under the supervision of Prof. Jian Xu in 2024. From 2025 to present, Xin Lian becomes a postdoctoral researcher at Peking University, collaborating with Professor Sihai Yang.
